World Cup Final
4 - 2
Anybody who could accurately predict the first two rounds of the 2018 World Cup would have made a lot of money from the bookies. Almost nobody would have predicted that Germany and Spain would be out of the tournament before the quarter finals and there isn’t a punter in the world who thought that one of Russia, Croatia, Sweden and England would be in the final.
The top half of the draw does look a little more familiar with Uruguay, France, Brazil and Belgium making it through to the quarter finals. Of that four, Brazil are the favourites with the bookies to book their place in the final but we think that Uruguay have a very good chance as they have the mix of individual quality and work ethic to give any team a real game.
England’s chances of qualifying:
England haven’t had such a good chance of making it to the World Cup for decades. The Three Lions headed to Russia with expectations pretty low and they’ve made the most of the lack of pressure on their shoulders so far.
We wrote before the tournament that England would have to beat some of the best international teams to have any chance of making it to the final. This most unpredictable of World Cups has had other ideas though as the draw opened up wonderfully for England having finished second in Group G. Having got past Colombia, England’s route to the final will see them have to come past Sweden in the quarter-final and then face either Russia or Croatia. It’s never easy at the World Cup but England have to be considered the favourites to book their place in the Luzhniki from the bottom half of the draw.
