Belgium vs England Betting Tips & Preview
Beaten semi-finalists battle it out in third-place play-off
Time: 15:00PM BST
Location: Saint Petersburg Stadium
The 2018 World Cup dream is over for Gareth Southgate’s England. They crashed out of the tournament’s running for outright honours in the semi-final with a 2-1 defeat to Croatia in extra-time. They now must contest Belgium in perhaps the most disliked fixture in international football, the dreaded third-place play-off.
Both sides are likely to give those players who didn’t feature much throughout the campaign a chance to shine here and get some game time. Although, keep an eye out for both Romelu Lukaku and Harry Kane, who are looking to win the Golden Boot in Russia and finish the summer with at least some form of silverware.
In a clash that not many fans will care much about in terms of significance, the Three Lions are 11/4 outsiders with bet365 to prevail, while the international Red Devils can be backed at 6/5 to come out on top and secure third place at the 2018 World Cup.
Head to head
These two nations met earlier in the group stage, in what was another dead fixture, as both countries had already qualified and rested many star names. Belgium prevailed then 3-0 and will be confident of doing so again here.
