Real Madrid are on the hunt for a third consecutive Champions League title and a 13th in all, and they should already have one foot in the semi finals of this year’s competition after a stunning 3-0 win over Juventus in Turin last week. Cristiano Ronaldo netted twice, including one of the greatest goals seen in the modern era, to give Zinedine Zidane’s men full control of their quarter-final tie. Many expected Juve to put up more of a fight in order to get revenge for a hefty defeat in last year’s final, and though they played well for an hour, they were no match for the Spaniards once Ronaldo found his feet in the game. It is incredibly tough to see them recovering and, in truth, this game is nothing more than a formality.

Max Allegri’s task has been made tougher by the absence of his young star Paulo Dybala, who was sent off last week. The Argentine is Juve’s brightest spark in attack, having scored a crucial goal against Tottenham in the last round; he will be sorely missed, as will his side when they exit the European scene on Wednesday evening.

Form

In LaLiga, Real continue to struggle and although they earned a draw in the derby with Atletico Madrid on Sunday, they fell behind Valencia in the table later that night.

Juve are in still very much in a battle to win a seventh-straight Serie A crown, but maintain a four-point lead over Napoli after the weekend’s results.

Other than Dybala, there are no fresh absentees for either side coming into this game.
