Real Madrid v Bayern Munich preview, free betting tips and prediction: Ronaldo seeking third final in a row
Real Madrid to win and BTTS @ 9/4 with Paddy Power
Neither Real Madrid nor Bayern Munich were at their best in the first leg of their Champions League semi final last week, but it was the Spaniards who took the tie by the scruff of the neck. Away goals, scored by Marcelo and Marco Asensio, cancelled out Joshua Kimmich’s opener, and Zinedine Zidane’s men are in pole position to reach another final. They are dominating European competition at the moment, currently chasing a third consecutive title and a 13th in all. But they must first put Bayern to bed at the Santiago Bernabeu and, although they didn’t play particularly well at the Allianz Arena, Jupp Heynckes’ men are a real threat. It wasn’t Franck Ribery’s night last Wednesday, or Robert Lewandowski’s, but it could be in Madrid and Zidane will have to be on guard.
Cristiano Ronaldo was, for once, kept quiet, so it is unlikely that will happen again. The game should open up more, because Bayern have to chase it and Real rarely don’t score on their own patch. Real should progress, and it would take a huge collapse for them not to. We are backing them to win, but we cannot rule out the German champions getting on the scoresheet.
Real Madrid are struggling for form right now; while their results have been okay, their performances haven’t been, with luck on their side more often than not. They are without a win by more than one goal since the first leg of their quarter final against Juventus.
Bayern, on the other hand, have impressed at times recently, winning the Bundesliga title. They have on their last five domestic games, scoring 22 goals, but have struggled to replicate that form in the Champions League.
Isco, Raphael Varane and Dani Carvajal have all joined Nacho Fernandez on the Real Madrid treatment table, while Bayern will be hoping David Alaba and Jerome Boateng will be fit enough. Arturo Vidal is unlikely to make it, though.
