Belgium v Japan Preview & Offers
Brilliant Belgium battle impressive Japan in tasty last 16 clash
Time: 19:00PM BST
Location: Rostov Arena
The 2018 World Cup last 16 continues into Monday evening with an intriguing match-up between two nations that have been impressive throughout their respective group campaigns to date. Belgium have failed in the past at major tournaments, despite boasting such a formidable roster, but they are looking dangerous in Russia and take on a plucky Japan outfit in the last 16 here. They toppled England in their final group game to prove a point by topping their standings too.
The main man for the international Red Devils will be Romelu Lukaku, who has discovered his clinical eye for goal on Russian soil this summer. His impressive outings have been helped by the creativity around in the form of fellow Premier League attacker Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard.
In what is another promising last 16 meeting, Belgium are the obvious odds-on 2/5 favourites with WIlliam Hill to prevail and secure their spot in the quarter-finals, where they will be confident of pushing on for outright success. Japan are gallant outsiders though at 13/2 to rally to what would a mammoth result during what has already been a sublime showing from the Asian side on their travels.
Head to head
These two nations have met five times previously and it’s surprisingly the Japanese that boast a better head to head record, with 2 victories and only one defeat to Belgium.
